Peacekeepers who have died

“As a military BRAT, I was aware that my father had a dangerous job. It was part of my family’s life. It was a part of life for all my friends on-base. There have been many service personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country during peacekeeping operations.” – Bruce Ricketts

It should be noted that soldiers who have died in Afghanistan are not included in this list as that effort was not classified as Peacekeeping.  Prior to the deaths of Sgt. Marc D. Léger, Cpl. Ainsworth Dyer, Pte. Richard A. Green and Pte. Nathan Smith, all of the PPCLI, no other Canadian had died in an active “offensive” theatre since the end of the Korean conflict in the 1950s.
